When visiting the Texas Hill Country and Riverway RV Park, you will want to visit Enchanted Rock State Natural Area and the rare Enchanted Rock. This unique formation is 14 miles south of Llano on Highway 16 and 8 miles west on R.R. 965. The beautiful, massive dome of pink granite is not only an impressive sight to see, but it is also fun to climb.
Enchanted Rock covers approximately 640 acres and rises approximately 425 feet above the surrounding terrain to elevation of 1,825 feet above sea level. It is the largest such pink granite monadnock in the United States.
The views from the top of the rock’s summit are panoramic. Indian lore surrounds the rock and led to its name in the 1800s. They have 8.4 miles of hiking trails, picnic tables and grills. They also have a State Park Store with unique gifts, books, etc. For information only call (800) 792-1112 or visit http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us.
